Annual Report 2017-18

We take great pleasure in presenting this annual report of Islahi English Medium School, Irikkur on this day of March 2018.

Islahi English Medium School, Irikkur is run by Irikkur Educational Society which was established in 1999 as a non-profitable organization to work for the cause of Education and Social well being of the children in and around Irikkur. The school campus is situated at a beautiful and peaceful area which provides students a feeling of security and suitable atmosphere for learning. We are maintaining such a system of teaching so that a child once admitted to K.G Section can pass out X std. with their Knowledge converted to Wisdom for the benefit of all the sections of society. So our motto is ‘Knowledge to Wisdom’.

The total student strength of our school is 567 with 36 staff members.

The annual report showcases the achievements of our school, undoubtedly, but also makes us think deeply about our short coming. We try to create an school environment which helps the young minds to blossom and give the chances for individual thinking and holistic development of personality.

We set standards and goals for ourselves by adhering strictly to Affiliation and other by-laws of CBSE be it in the area of academics, sports, discipline, leadership and more.

We conduct Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony like this, to honour those students who made the school proud with their brilliant efforts.

We keep achieving academic excellence at the heart of our effort. We can very happily share this details of the commendable performances of our students from LKG to X.

The class X result of 2017 March exam of our school prove without any doubt that our students have made as proud. In class X, the result was 100% with 13 students out of 30 securing 10 CGPA, 8 numbers more than 9 CGPA. The students passed in flying colours with 86% distinction. 13 students were awarded Certificates of Merit by CBSE.

The students of our school participated in outside examinations such Sahodaya Talent Search Examinations 2017, Sahodaya Scholastic Achievement Test 2017 and Suguma Hindi Exam 2017 and 80% of students secured A+ Grade in these exams. Really these examinations infused a healthy competitive spirit.

This year our students actively participated in different sports, games competitions and won medals and certificate.

Arts and sports festival conducted this year gave the students ample opportunities to develop their abilities in the respective field. Many of them participated in Sahodaya Cultural Fest and returned in the colourful and glorious result, possessing medals, trophies and certificates.

Many extra-curricular activities were conducted this year to enhance the process of holistic development in children. We have conducted Yoga and Karate Classes in order to boost the mental and physical health of the students. Students celebrated the day celebrations like, Environment Day, Inter National Yoga Day, Anti-Narcotics Day, Reading Day, Quit India Day, Independence Day, Onam Celebrations, Teachers Day, Gandhi Jayanti, UN Day, Nation Re-dedication Day, Kerala Piravi day, Children’s Day, Flag day, Constitution day, Republic Day, Communal Harmony week, The Moon day, etc. with various activities and competitions to increase their creativity, thinking power and knowledge. Prizes were awarded to them (Who won the competition), in morning assembly and other functions.

There are some best practices in our school to inculcate moral values like equality, love, co-operation, consideration for others, cleaning etc. During lunch time the students and class teachers take lunch together, sharing and providing lunch to those who have not brought the same. The students are allowed to bring non-vegetarian food only on Friday. When they walk through ‘Varanda’ and go to washing place, they go in queue with complete silence.

Moreover, to develop their moral, spiritual and social qualities we conducted a lot of activities which are very much interested for students. We conducted ‘Food Courts’, Vegetable Day, Fruits Day, Crafts Day, Science Exhibition Day, School Student Elections, Field trips to nearby places including charity organizations like Prathyasha Bhavan, etc. and donated considerable amount to the needy people and organizations. We conducted 4 PTA Meetings and PTS Executive Committee Meetings monthly, this year in which parents active participations were assured.

We encouraged students by giving the badge for their performances in each class and gave best class awards by considering different activities.

Different safety measures are taken for the safety of school children in school and outside as well as in school vehicles.

The medical checkups and vaccinations and other health activities in co-operation with health department were conducted many times this year.

We have conducted study tour programmes to Wayanad and Kannur in which students actively participated.

Awareness programme on Gender sensitivity and Problems of Adolescence were conducted in the school.

Our teachers participated in many Capacity Building Programme and other training workshops conducted by CBSE and other agencies.

In short, with all your support we are able to make this year with full of events and useful activities.
